1/ Any material defects or workmanship damage that is inconspicuous and does not weaken the
material shall be classified as a minor defect. Material defects or workmanship damage that
weakens the material, or does not weaken the material but is conspicuous when the garment
is worn, shall be classified as a major defect.
2/
Any edge that is required to be turned under and is not, but is securely caught in the
stitching, shall be classified as a raw edge. Any raw edge not securely caught in the
stitching shall be classified as an open seam. Except on edge or raise stitching, a break in a
line of stitching or two or more continuous skipped stitches or runoffs shall constitute an
open seam. If either one or both sides of a double-stitched seam is open, it shall be
classified as an open seam.
3/
An open seam includes seams with stitch tension such that stitch breakage occurs when
strain is applied.

defect.
